Garth Brooks Concert Review - Birmingham, Alabama Protective Stadium (June 4, 2022)

By: Karl Stern (Patreon)

A crowd of 50,000 strong came out to see the first ever music concert at the new Birmingham, Alabama Protective Stadium on Saturday, June 4, 2022 as country music mega-star Garth Brooks returned to town.

The Birmingham concert, taped for inclusion in an upcoming live album, scored it’s first sellout and Garth Brooks did not disappoint. Garth Brooks, who is well known for his high-energy live performances, seemed to be even more energetic at the Birmingham concert with perfect weather and a highly vocal crowd.

Opening act, Mitch Rossell, came out with a short, but fun, acoustic set of songs and a fun personality which got the crowd going. Then Garth Brooks blasted onto stage with a powerful performance of All Day Long.

Garth Brooks then sang all his famous radio hits to a receptive crowd along with numerous cover songs by other artists including Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Randy Travis, and George Strait, but the crowd favorite was a medley of hits from Lynyrd Skynyrd including leading a crowd of 50,000 Alabamians in our own national anthem Sweet Home Alabama.

The energy never let up as Garth Brooks smashed through hit after hit and expressed his appreciation to the sold out Protective Stadium multiple times. Of course, he even brought out his wife, country music star Trish Yearwood to do a few songs as well.

The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour stop in Birmingham, Alabama was about as perfect a concert experience as one could have. From perfect weather, to a high energy fun performance, to the wonderful new Protective Stadium.
