Saga of the Lord Humongous: Mid-South: New Orleans, LA: UNO Lakefront Arena: Ricky Gibson vs. Masked Superstar (Bill Eadie)… The Bruise Brothers (Porkchop Cash & Mad Dog) vs. Eddie Gilbert & Gustavo Mendoza & Sir Oliver Humperdink in a handicap match… Lord Humongous (Jeff Van Camp) vs. Terry Taylor… Buzz Sawyer vs. Steve Williams… Ted DiBiase vs. Dick Murdoch in a taped fist match… Dick Slater vs. Jake Roberts. This is the end of the Lord Humongous character as played by Jeff Van Camp. Van Camp returns to Pensacola, FL to begin a career in law enforcement. After he retires from law enforcement he will once again appear as Lord Humongous at some reunion shows and indies in the 2000s. In just over a year in 1987, Sid Eudy (AKA: Sid Vicious) will debut his version of Lord Humongous in Memphis.

Original Midnight Express member Randy Rose pleads no-contest to manslaughter by intoxication for the February 1986 wreck in Pensacola, FL which killed 21 year old Leslie Potter. The newspaper reports the father of the victim is outraged when Rose is given a light sentence of two years house arrest and probation (which is later altered to just probation and let him return to Georgia where Rose lives) despite Rose’s blood alcohol content being 0.19 two hours after the wreck. Sam Potter, father of the victim, told the Pensacola, FL newspaper, “I don’t like it a bit. He killed my daughter… my daughter is out there laying in a grave and he is out there running around.” The verdict was viewed as so outrageous that Florida state later disciplined the prosecutor in the case.
